I've only been to the Maya on Central, but today I decided to stop in at the one in the mall. I was afraid food and service would be only half of what the one on central is, but I was actually surprised to have received good service and good food here too. They have happy hour here Sun-Thurs all day long. Their drinks are 2 for 1 which is GREEEAT!!! Atmosphere is super casual and friendly and both hosts and waiters are very welcoming.
Food: I ordered the El Pastor Tacos and they were delicious! Ask for their spicy sauce. It's a jabanero based hot sauce. Definitely has a kick but goes so good on the tacos. Guacamole was great, too; however, I wasn't so fond of their house salsa here they serve when you first sit down. Seemed a little on the watery side and not as flavorful as the central location. But everything else was great. Margarita was great too. Strong, but good!
I've been reading good and bad reviews on this location, but I visited for the first time and I left satisfied. It may just be one of those locations where it's either a hit or a miss. Anyways, don't let that stop you from visiting this restaurant! Will I come back? Yes; however, the central location is allot closer to me. -

I'm a big fan of Maya on Central in Northeast, but I'm so sad (but also not shocked?) that their mall version is subpar.
First off, service is lovely. Both their hostesses and servers are enigmatic and engaging. Stars for that! But I have found that the flavor and quality is seriously lacking here. On my most recent visit, I got a 3 pork taco plate to go, and it they were just drowning in oil. Oil is mostly what I tasted (and got everywhere), rather than their usual bold flavors. The tamale I got was also incredibly bland. I couldn't detect any salt in the masa dough, and the "spicy" pork filling was lacking heat too. Quit breakin' my heart, Maya. -

When I tell you their food is AHA-MAZE-ING, you better believe it! We came here for a quick bite before a meeting we were headed to and it was the best decision we made that day. For starters, the wait staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, plus she went out of her way to honor a special request the hubs had. We ordered chimichangas as an appetizer that came on a plate of three; two with green sauce and one with a red sauce. They also had a special $5 green apple margarita that I had to get...it was very refreshing and it was not over the top with alcohol, it was the perfect mix.
For our entree, hubs ordered enchiladas with a side of black beans and Spanish rice that were so cheesy and delicious and I ordered this amazing taco salad with the fried tortilla bowl. Sometimes I've gotten this salad where the tortilla bowl was too hard and flavorless, however THIS BOWL RIGHT HERE was made to PERFECTION. It was the right amount of crunchiness and the perfect accompaniment to the beautiful mix of flavors that included chicken, lettuce, beans, peppers, cheese, tomatoes, guacamole, salsa and sour cream...YUMMM!
Can't forget about the chips and salsa...which curbed our hungry appetites as we waited for the deliciousness to arrive. We topped it all off with a great treat. Drumroll please....that damn fried ice cream...OMG, I'd drive all the way to Roseville just for that hands down. Needless to say, we'll most definitely be back to try more. -

I would give zero stars if possible. Ummm....probably the MOST disappointing restaurant experience I've had in a very long time -with the WORST service from MANAGEMENT!
EVERYTHING seemed old. THIS FOOD AND THIS PLACE IS JUST WRONG.
BOTH tap beers tasted watery and were undrinkable, the Tamale dough was so MUSHY it wouldn't hold together and was filled with dry chewy chicken.
The nachos had almost luke warm ground beef and cutting into a large chunk of beef was UNCOOKED inside.
The chips, most basic thing, were STALE.
We even had to ask for the hot queso to be heated up because it was served luke warm also (before we got nachos and tamales and discovered all the other problems with the nasty food)
The "manager" Roberto basically called us liars - originally we only asked for the beers to be taken off. When he became rude and accusatory, we told him about the food problems where he promptly told us we were paying for everything.
We didn't eat or drink even a quarter of what we ordered - all he needed to do was not be a first class A-hole and do his job professionally as a manager. If he can't remove alcohol he could have done SOMETHING for us.
The server, Eddie, was fine. Sorry, bro.
Hopefully we don't get food poisoning from this nasty, old, and cold food.
DON'T GO HERE! LOOKS ARE DECEIVING.
